Pitch Reflection
After doing my pitch and listening to feedback, I’ve become aware of the few major flaws and parts where my idea could go wrong. The plot itself is very complicated which is expected when having two characters who are the same person, where both individual stories overlap. So getting the plot right to begin with is a must, the next step is being able to efficiently show the story in a way which is easy to understand and makes sense. I don’t want to spoil the fact that both characters are the same person because that would destroy the tension and the surprise at the end of the film. However, I want the film to make sense when both knowing that they are the same and they aren’t so that any audience gets it.
Another possible pitfall is location of filming. The film takes place in a dystopian world where pretty much everywhere is abandoned so choosing the right locations and making sure nothing on screen counters this idea that no-one has lived here for a while. This shouldn’t be too hard to achieve, it would just mean filming at specific times of the day or filming in areas with literally less people.
Character and actor wise, the idea about using facial hair like a beard to show the difference in age and experience the two characters was good its just actually pulling that off. It would require either actually having a beard which could make filming hard or using a fake beard. The real deal would look better and add to the realism but it could mean that there would be problems if we needed to re-film and the cast already shaved the beard off.
My focus on lighting and creating the aesthetic I have in mind for the film will take some further preparation. Filming at specific times of day will be important and manipulating light will also be useful. My goal to have a sort of wild ambience through diegetic sound will be a challenge. They will probably be added afterwards so I have a bit more control over what is heard or not and at what moment.
After I have figured out the full plot, how I’m going to achieve the aesthetic and locations/casts there will be some posts explaining it in detail.
